Amanda Wisler – born and raised by the waves in Santa Cruz, California – sings and writes songs about her life’s ups and downs, joys and sorrows – and it’s these very songs that are featured on her new CD, “Eye To Eye” which is in the final stages of production.
Engineered by Vince Sanchez of VSO Productions, Amanda brought in some of the very finest young musicians in Santa Cruz to help her fulfill her vision for this project.
Amanda is no newbie to performing - she’s performed the national anthem for the opening of the Watsonville, Ca. car races, placed second in the Santa Cruz County Fair Idol competition, and has participated in as many open mics in and around the Santa Cruz area as she can. Music is clearly her passion.
She has always loved to sing and perform, beginning with the piano at age 5 and by the next year, singing for her school talent show. Healing from a neck injury at the age of 12, she took to playing guitar, which was followed up by a solid year in the recording studio studying voice and mic technique with instructor Melanie Redman with later coaching by Santa Cruz 2013 Gail Rich Award recipient Pipa Piñon. Amanda has also recently added the ever popular ukulele to her arsenal of instruments.
And while she has spent most of her life playing, singing, and writing music; a meeting with casting director Toni Suttie of Integrity Casting early in her childhood initiated a mentorship program that continues to this date. Learning the ins and outs of the entertainment industry with Toni’s guidance, Amanda has performed for red carpet events in San Diego Ca., been cast in modeling jobs, commercials, and as an extra in a movie. She has often worked side by side with Toni – helping her cast projects and working on movie sets as well as other aspects of the entertainment industry. She recently did a commercial for a non-profit organization called "Yours Humanly".
And while music and performing is her passion, Amanda also cares deeply about the ocean and the environment. She was involved with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's student oceanography program for 5 years, as well as the 4-H and the Junior Fair – volunteering many hours in the process.
